Texas Olive Ranch

Texas Olive Ranch

Jim Henry is a pioneer in the Texas olive industry, and produces extra virgin olive oil from the fruit of about 40,000 olive trees he's been raising at his Texas Olive Ranch in the Carrizo Springs area for eight years. Texas Olive Ranch 100% Pure Texas Extra Virgin Olive Oil is pressed from arbequina variety olives grown at the ranch. The arbequina variety was developed in Spain and is especially suitable for growing in the sandy loam soil of the Middle Rio Grande Valley, where the climate is very similar to southern Spain. In addition to the arbequina variety, they grow two other varieties: arbosana, also Spanish in origin; and a Greek variety, koroneiki. The growing season in Texas is hot and the olives are ready to be harvested the first week in September.
