RECIPE

Includes:

  • 32 oz Gumbo Base, Quality Seafood

  • 1.0 lb avg Wild-Caught Gulf Shrimp, K & S Seafood

  • 1 bunch Green Onions

  • 16 oz Cooked White Rice, Farmhouse Kitchen

You will need:

  • Butter or Oil of Choice

  • Salt and pepper

Hands on Time: 15 minutes; Total Time: 15 minutes

Note: Thaw gumbo base, shrimp, and rice in the refrigerator 24-48 hours prior to cooking.

STEP 1  Peel and devein the thawed shrimp; set aside. Thinly slice 1/2 cup green onions; set aside.
STEP 2  Heat 2 tbsp. butter in a 2 quart sauce pan or large, high-sided skillet over medium. When the butter is melted and light brown, add the shrimp and 1/4 cup of sliced green onions. Saute for 1-2 minutes, then add the gumbo base. Stir to combine and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until the shrimp are cooked through (145°F). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
STEP 3  Meanwhile, warm the cooked white rice in the microwave. Transfer rice to a microwave-safe plate and cover with a damp paper towel. Heat gently at 50% power until thoroughly hot, stirring 1-2 times, about 2-3 minutes. Alternatively, warm on the stove top by adding to a skillet. Sprinkle with 2-3 tbsp. of water and cover with a lid. Heat gently over medium-low heat until thoroughly hot, about 5 minutes.
STEP 4  Serve shrimp gumbo with a scoop of rice and garnish with remaining green onions.
