Beloved guacamole (or as many of us call it, "guac") reigns supreme as the year round, go-to appetizer for every day snacking to big celebrations. Creamy, crowd-pleasing and best of all, easy, this kit includes fresh, certified organic and local ingredients to make delicious guacamole at home. Serve with crunchy El Milagro Tortilleria's non-GMO tortilla chips for a classic appetizer. In Texas, guacamole goes on practically anything, so we don't think twice about adding a dollop of guacamole on breakfast tacos, toast, protein bowls, salads, and sandwiches. Serves 4-5 (Gluten Free, Dairy Free & Nut Free)


Includes:
  • 3 ct Large Organic Haas Avocados
  • 1 bunch Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 lb Tomatoes
  • 2 ct Persian Lime
  • 10 oz Chopped Onions
  • 16 oz Corn Tortilla Chips
You will need:
  • Salt and pepper
  • Jalapeno or serrano peppers (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Chile powder (optional)
Hands on Time: 10 minutes; Total Time: 10 minutes

INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Hard, green Haas avocados are unripe. Leave on the counter in cool, dry location in your kitchen for 1-3 days. Haas avocado skins will darken to a matte black and yield to gentle pressure when ripe. Refrigerate if not using immediately once ripe.

For a chunky guacamole:
STEP 1 
Wash and dry the cilantro, discarding the thick woody stems. Finely chop 1/4 cup of tender cilantro stems and leaves; set aside. Wash, core, then halve the tomato. Scoop out and discard the watery center and seeds. Chop tomato into small 1/4-inch pieces; set aside.
STEP 2  Slice the ripe avocados in half lengthwise and discard the pit. Scoop out the avocados from 3 halves (1.5 avocados) and add to a mixing bowl. Smash with a fork or potato masher until smooth with a few small chunks. Season with 1/2 tsp. salt and the juice of 1 lime. Add the chopped cilantro, 1/2 cup chopped onion and diced tomato. Fold to combine. (Optional: Add finely diced hot peppers, spices and hot sauce at this point). 

STEP 3  Remove the remaining avocado from the peel and cube into approximately 1/2-inch pieces. Fold into the seasoned smashed avocado mixture. Adjust with additional salt, lime, cilantro, and onion to taste. Serve with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
