VESPAIO RISTORANTE

Vespaio opened its doors in Austin, TX in 1998, long before South Congress was the bustling shopping promenade it is today. In fact, the location was once a Western wear shop and a grocery at the turn of the century. During early demolition, a walled-in working beehive was revealed, and thus, the restaurant was named Vespaio, meaning “Wasps’ nest” or "buzzing" in Italian.

The buzzing Vespaio kitchen is driven wholly by handmade and locally-sourced ingredients. Their chefs do all of their own butchering and use every part of the animal. Stocks, charcuterie, fresh pasta, breads, desserts and cheese are all hand crafted in house, with wines specifically chosen to compliment the food.
