This uniquely Texan party staple originates back to the 1940's where, in true Austin fashion, it was given the name "Texas Caviar" as a tongue-in-cheek comparison to the popular, albeit expensive, fish egg version. Its delicious reputation has lived on and to this day, Texas Caviar has become a backyard barbecue and picnic staple.

We love Texas Caviar because it's the perfect blend of Texan food ways - Southern black eyed peas and Mexican Pico de Gallo. Farmhouse Kitchen's take on the classic involves roasting peppers, onions and jalapenos for a deeper, savory flavor. Combined with lime juice, spices and fresh cilantro, the creamy black eyed peas marinate in this zesty vinaigrette, allowing the flavors to meld and improve over time.
