Heritage Seafood is a locally owned operation by Texas native, Ben McBride. Ben's philosophy behind the company has always been “to obtain the freshest, best cared for fish from the Gulf of Mexico with the intention of offering chefs in Austin a dock to dock experience.” Each week, McBride drives fours hours to Gulf destinations like Freeport and Houston and sometimes Galveston, too. Once there, he meets Captain Jason and other fishermen he knows on a first name basis at the dock. McBride helps them sort and unload catches that total up to 12,000 pounds, and then he makes the return trip to Austin to deliver orders. If you've enjoyed fresh seafood in an Austin restaurant during the last three years, you probably have McBride to thank for that catch!
