In 2015, our founder Stephane Scherzer saw an opportunity to reduce food waste while inspiring and teaching people to cook healthy, seasonal meals with the produce and meat we were already sourcing locally. Farmhouse Kitchen, our in-house scratch kitchen, transforms these local ingredients into chef-crafted meal kits, pantry staples, and prepared foods that make seasonal eating both easy and delicious. Today, Farmhouse Kitchen—led by Steph and Chef Carlos—continues to push our core mission forward.
Farmhouse Kitchen keeps food waste to less than 2%—far below the 12–15% typical of traditional grocery stores—by using excess high-quality ingredients from local farms. Our packaging is recyclable, reusable, or compostable, and our commitment to sustainability continues in our sourcing. We partner with small farms and ranchers who share our mission of regenerative food production, using fresh produce, pasture-raised chicken and grass-fed beef with no added hormones or antibiotics. We also take a whole-animal approach to butchery, receiving meats directly from the farm and breaking them down in-house. This not only ensures quality and freshness in every cut, but also helps us honor the entire animal and minimize waste.
Chef Carlos draws on his 15 years of culinary experience around the world to create innovative dishes using ingredients straight from the farm. He joined Farmhouse in search of building a deeper connection between food and its producers, and thrives on the challenge of reimagining classic dishes—keeping the flavor, ditching the junk. Whether it’s a chef-prepared meal, a ready-to-cook kit, or a handcrafted sauce, every item is made from scratch with whole, clean ingredients—no seed oils, artificial sweeteners, colors, preservatives, or additives. Just real food that’s better for you and the planet.
For Steph and Chef Carlos, it’s not just about feeding people—it’s about feeding them well. From farm to kitchen to table, they’re crafting meals with purpose, connecting communities to the source of their food, and proving that clean, farm to table cooking can be both everyday and exceptional.
