Description
Sage has a savory, slightly peppery flavor and pairs well with sweeter vegetables such as yams and winter squashes as well as poultry.
Recipe
Brown Butter Sage Pasta with Texas Pecans
Serves 2 | Ready in 20 minutes
Nutty, fragrant, and rich with golden crisped sage—this simple pasta feels luxurious with minimal effort. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or elegant side.
Ingredients:
6 oz Della Casa Fresh Pasta (try fettuccine or rigatoni)
3 tbsp unsalted butter or Olive Oil
8–10 fresh Texas-grown sage leaves
¼ cup chopped Texas pecans, toasted
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional: grated cheese, lemon zest, or a squeeze of lemon juice
Instructions:
Cook the Pasta:
Boil pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
Make the Sage Brown Butter:
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sage leaves and cook until butter is golden and fragrant and sage is crisp—about 3–4 minutes. Add pecans and toast for 1 minute more.
Toss & Serve:
Add drained pasta to the skillet and toss with the brown butter. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen. Season with salt and pepper. Finish with cheese or lemon if desired.
Pairing Ideas:
Serve with a side of roasted carrots or broccolini
Top with a fried egg for extra richness
Add sliced Texas-grown mushrooms for a heartier meal
