Sesame Chicken was born in Chinese-American kitchens, where crispy fried chicken meets a glossy, sweet-savory sauce. Toasted sesame oil and a sprinkle of seeds add nutty depth, while a touch of Sichuan chili crisp brings gentle heat and complexity. Over time, it has become a takeout favorite, celebrated for its balance of crunch, sweetness, spice, and sesame warmth

NEED AT HOME

Toasted Sesame Seeds & Green Onions (Optional)

1. HEAT RICE
Microwave (quick method):
Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl and sprinkle with 1–2 tablespoons of water per cup.
Cover with a damp paper towel or lid and microwave until hot and fluffy, about 1–2 minutes per serving.

Stovetop (steam method):
Add rice to a small pot or skillet with 2–3 tablespoons of water.
Cover with a tight-fitting lid and warm over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the rice is heated through and steaming, 5–7 minutes.

2. COOK CHICKEN
Add the thawed sesame chicken in a single layer and fry for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through.
Transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
In a separate pan, warm the sticky sesame sauce over low heat until just bubbling.
Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. COOK GREEN BEANS & ASSEMBLE
Heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over high heat until just smoking.
Add the green beans in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 1–2 minutes, then shake or stir and continue cooking until blistered and tender, about 5–6 minutes total.
Remove from heat and toss immediately with the Sichuan chili crisp.

4. PLATE & SERVE
Divide the rice between bowls.
Top with sesame chicken and any extra sauce.
Serve green beans and slaw on the side, top with toasted sesame seeds and green onions (optional
