Description
This popular Asian green with crisp, juicy stems and tender sweet leaves is superb in stir fry and noodle soups. Try it steamed for a crisp-tender texture or braised until silky, and serve with Farmhouse Kitchen's Miso Ginger Stir Fry Sauce for quick, Asian-inspired weeknight cooking.
Recipe
Garlic-Sesame Sautéed Bok Choy
Ready in 10 minutes | Serves 2–4
A simple, umami-packed recipe that lets the crisp-tender texture and mild sweetness of organic bok choy shine.
Ingredients:
1 bunch Terra Preta Organic Bok Choy, halved or quartered lengthwise
1 tbsp Olive Oil or sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice
½ tsp toasted sesame oil (optional, for depth)
1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
Instructions:
Prep the Bok Choy:
Rinse well to remove any dirt between the stems. Pat dry and slice in half or quarters depending on size.
Sauté:
Heat olive oil or sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant (don’t let it brown).
Cook Bok Choy:
Add bok choy cut-side down. Sear for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until just wilted but still crisp.
Add Flavor:
Drizzle in soy sauce and rice vinegar. Toss to coat and cook for 1 more minute.
Finish:
Remove from heat, drizzle with toasted sesame oil if using, and garnish with sesame seeds and red pepper flakes.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve alongside grilled pasture-raised chicken or seared tofu
Add to rice bowls with a fried egg on top
Toss into ramen or miso soup for an instant upgrade
Enjoy!
